About
Us:
Elizabeth Park is the oldest municipal rose
garden in the country and is listed on the National Register of Historic
Places. The park is owned and maintained
by the City of Hartford and is located in both Hartford and West Hartford. Elizabeth Park Conservancy, which celebrated its
35th anniversary in 2012, is a nonprofit organization dedicated to preserving
and maintaining the rose gardens and other gardens in the park.
Student
Intern Position Description:
We are looking for a
marketing, communications, public relations intern to assist the Executive
Director in efforts to generate
Elizabeth Park buzz. Using your writing and communications skills, imagination
and energy, find unusual ways to engage park visitors and bring new people to
the park. We would like to expand use of
social medal to create and promote memorable experiences.
Representative activities will include
Ø Providing creative feedback on
website, brochures, fundraising materials, and graphic design projects;
Ø
Organizing
digital photo collections
Ø
General
office tasks as necessary (answering phone, filing, organizing information,
etc.)
Ø
Assist
in developing and writing content for a new and expanding web site
Ø
Developing,
creating/updating textual and graphic content for, & managing social media
profiles (Twitter, Facebook)
Ø
Evaluating,
implementing and managing new social media and PR initiatives, e.g. Blog,
Historypin.
Qualifications:
Ø
Currently enrolled in a college or university for
this unpaid internship
Ø
12-15
hours (2 days) per week or 3 days at 4 hours – to be discussed
Ø
Superior
communication skills (both written and verbal)
Ø
Excellent
interpersonal and networking skills
Ø
Motivated,
organized, go-getter requiring minimal guidance
Ø
Proficient
in using Microsoft Office, Graphics, Facebook, Twitter, and other new media in
a professional context
Ø
Passionate
about connecting the community to our regional treasure
