Concerning: Special Announcement - Christmas Recess Week Office Closings
I am pleased to announce that President Jones has once again exercised his prerogative as President in designating Wednesday, Thursday and Friday December 26 through December 28, 2012 as President’s Discretionary Leave Days for all but essential services personnel. Administrative and academic offices will be closed during this period, and benefit eligible members of the administrative staff will be paid according to their regularly scheduled hours. Staff will not be required to charge the time off to accrued vacation or personal leave. As has been communicated in previous years, the decision to close College offices during the holiday recess week applies to the current year only and should not be considered precedent setting.
Benefit-eligible employees normally scheduled to work during the Christmas recess week should report the discretionary days’ time off as follows:
- Those paid on a bi-weekly basis should record the time off on those days as code PDD.
- Salaried employees paid on a monthly basis need not reference the discretionary days on electronic leave reports.
Monday, December 24, Tuesday, December 25, Monday, December 31, 2012 and Tuesday, January 1, 2013 are regularly scheduled College holidays. College offices will re-open Wednesday, January 2.
There may be certain offices and departments where year-end and other priorities will require some employees to work during this period. Where this is the case, Department Heads should work with members of their staff to schedule equivalent time off. Time worked during this special leave period should be recorded as straight time; holiday payment procedures do not apply.
