Are you interested in making a difference in the life of another person? If so, consider participating in Trinity`s semi-annual blood drive taking place today, sponsored by Psi Upsilon and the Office of Community Service and Civic Engagement.  Due to the recent severe winter weather, it is especially important for Trinity to turn out for this drive, as over 170 blood drives in the Northeast have been cancelled, resulting in a shortfall of more than 7100 units of blood.  In Connecticut alone, over 1200 units of blood have gone uncollected which is the equivalent of a 3 day supply of blood for Connecticut's hospitals. Our help is needed to restore the blood supply!
The American Red Cross is challenging us to make this blood drive our biggest one ever.  To date our most successful Trinity blood drive was in the wake of another run of bad winter weather in February 2011 when we collected 63 units on blood. All eligible donors are being asked to make an appointment to donate blood so that we can reach a new record of 75 units of blood at the February 26th drive.
If you are interested in giving, you may sign up at the tables outside of Mather Dining Hall this week. You can also schedule your appointment by contacting Joe Barber at or Nate Nurmi at  We would like to thank all of you who will be donating much needed blood this semester and who have given blood in the past. Giving blood is more than a donation, it can be a gift of life.
