Despite covering a small fraction of the Earth’s surface, inland waters are now thought to play an important role in the global carbon budget.  However, more measurements are needed since it can be difficult to extend data from one watershed to another due to the dynamic nature of these systems.  In this work, inorganic carbon parameters and dissolved oxygen were measured in the Connecticut River and three small freshwater ponds.  These measurements can tell us about the current carbon dynamics in this watershed, and can provide cues to how these systems may respond in the face of continued global climate change.
