The Trinity
College Fire Fighting Home Robot Contest and RoboWaiter Competition, taking
place this year on April 6th and 7th at Trinity College's
Oosting Gymnasium, is annual robotics contest that draws
hundreds of students from across the globe to compete in a friendly and
educational competition, challenging autonomous robots to compete in 2
disciplines. In simplistic terms, fire fighting robots search homes to find and
extinguish flames and/or assistive robots search homes to find and serve food
to a person with disabilities. The robots are scored based on their times to
complete the challenges, with an average run of 1‐2 minutes in length.
The Trinity contest is
in its 20th year and is one of the leading events of its kind in the world. The
contest is open to persons and levels of skill and it has hosted teams from
five continents and from more than 140 different colleges and universities.
Already this year teams are registered from China, U.S., Indonesia, and
Armenia.
