The Connecticut General Assembly’s Latino and Puerto Rican Affairs Commission members and staff are requesting nominations from you of qualified individuals to be recognized at our 16th annual Scholarship Awards Ceremony to be held on Saturday, August 31, 2013 at the Bond Ballroom in Hartford, Connecticut. We are delighted to announce that as of 2013, we will be accepting applications from Dreamers.
In an effort to continue recognizing academic excellence among Hispanic students, community and organizational leaders statewide, we are seeking your assistance in identifying viable candidates for the annual awards in the following categories:
Latino Citizens of the Year;
Promesa Youth Scholarship Award for High School Seniors and College students; and,
Community Service Award (Presented to an Organization)
The awards are designed to recognize Hispanic men and women and one Hispanic organization in the state that have made significant contributions to our community. Last year, we received numerous submissions for outstanding individuals; if your nominee was not selected for award, please do not hesitate to re-submit their name for consideration this year.
Enclosed please find the criteria, nomination form and scholarship application for use in making your nominations for award consideration. Please submit names for those who meet the criteria outlined. It is imperative that the nomination be submitted in its entirety as we will not accept an incomplete submission. The deadline for submission of nominations is Friday, May 24, 2013 It is vital that you act on your nomination as fast as possible and submit it promptly as the deadline will not be extended. Therefore, please submit your nomination(s) by the stated deadline.
