Join Abigail Alderman ’11, Corporate Communications Coordinator for Hearst Magazines, as she discuss her experiences at the Columbia Publishing Course and in the publishing industry. The Columbia Publishing Course is an intensive introduction to all aspects of book, magazine, and digital media publishing, from evaluations of manuscripts to the sales and marketing of finished products. At CPC students learn directly from leaders in the industry--writers, editors, publishers, design directors, illustrators, advertising experts, and publicists. Geared to recent college graduates and culminating in a job fair, the course also includes extensive preparation for the job market. Recent graduates have landed at Random House, HarperCollins, Scholastic, Marie Claire, Glamour, DailyBeast.com, and NYmag.com. Attendees can also expect to hear about what they can do NOW to prepare for the publishing job market.
