Investment Banking Summer Analyst Position for Current Juniors
Cowen & Company has opportunities for about ten college juniors as summer analysts in our New York and San Francisco Investment Banking offices. Strong academic performance, exceptional interpersonal skills, and superior analytical, computer, and communication skills are essential. The firm values individuals who are demonstrated team players and can interact with all levels of the organization. Successful candidates will exhibit a common sense approach to problem solving and a strong desire to learn, in addition to showing initiative, integrity, and creativity.
Cowen specializes in value added, high margin investment banking services and products. The product groups include Debt and Equity Capital Markets. The corporate finance groups include Consumer, Health Care, Financial Sponsors, Industrials and Technology.
Summer analysts can expect a fast-paced, demanding work environment that offers the opportunity to learn and grow professionally. During the internship, each summer analyst will work on a variety of transactions. Responsibilities include performing financial analysis, conducting industry and company research, and preparing presentations.
After the initial interview candidates interview with and are hired directly into a product or corporate finance group. Summer analysts spend ten weeks with us from early June through August, staying in one group. They are expected to work alongside our full-time analysts while learning from them. The summer program begins with a week of training, including an introduction and orientation to the firm and its capabilities, as well as coursework in accounting, modeling, valuation, and Excel. Through a series of weekly lunches, summer analysts meet with senior management across all of Cowen's businesses. Occasional receptions and a summer outing encourage summer analysts to interact with analysts, associates, and officers throughout Investment Banking. Each summer analyst is assigned a mentor, usually from his/her school. The summer program consistently provides a core group of hires for our full-time analyst program.
Interested students should apply no later than Sunday, January 6th, 2013.
