Trinity College is committed to making appropriate medical care available to every employee who is injured on the job.  To support this goal, Trinity is a participant in The Hartford’s CompSolution Plan.  The Connecticut Workers’ Compensation Commission has approved this Plan.
 
The Plan provides a comprehensive network of carefully selected occupational and urgent care treatment centers, physicians, hospitals and ancillary service providers who have agreed to offer timely, appropriate and cost-effective care to those injured at Trinity or who have a job-related illness.  According to state regulations which govern Workers Compensation Commission approved plans, you are required to obtain all of your medical care for job-related illnesses and injuries from Plan providers or risk loss of your benefits, subject to order of the Worker’s Compensation Commissioner.  If you require treatment in a medical specialty other than those covered by the Plan, you are free to treat with any provider licensed in the state.
 
Your health and well-being are important to the College.  If you are injured on the job or develop a work-related illness, you will be referred to a health care provider in the Plan.  If your injury requires time off from work, a CompSolution Nurse Care Manager will consult with you about your health care needs and assist you in obtaining treatment and referrals as needed. 
 
IF YOU ARE INJURED AT WORK YOU MUST:
 
  • Notify your supervisor immediately (or as soon as possible following the incident).   In addition, a First Report of Accident or Injury must be completed and forwarded to Human Resources as soon as possible.
  • Use a medical provider who is a member of The Hartford’s’ CompSolution Plan.  Providers can be found at http://www.thehartford.com/higfiles/pdf/EmployeeEnrollmentPackage.pdf.  The names of approved providers also are maintained in the Medical Office, Campus Safety and Human Resources. 
  • If you believe you are in a life-threatening situation, proceed to the nearest hospital or emergency room regardless of whether or not the facility is an approved provider.  Payment of claims will not be forfeited in such instances.
  • Have supervisor complete a “Supervisor’s Report of Work Related Accident” form.
 
Forms are available in Human Resources or on the Human Resources Sharepoint site at http://share.trincoll.edu/SiteDirectory/HR/CurrentInfo/Work%20Comp%20Information/Forms/AllItems.aspx .  Employees who follow these steps will not jeopardize receipt of workers’ compensation benefits.
