Christoph Geiss, Associate Professor of Physics and Environmental Science
Arctic peatlands contain a significant amount of carbon in the form of frozen plant material. Christoph Geiss uses aerial photography, borehole- and ground-penetrating radar data to estimate the extent and size of peat deposits in northern Manitoba, and a combination of paleoclimatic records to determine when these deposits formed and how they might change in the future.
A light lunch will be provided on a first-come, first-served basis. If you plan on bringing a class or group to a Thursday Common Hour program, please e-mail common-hour@trincoll.edu in order for adequate food to be requested.
Common Hour intends to offer the Trinity community an opportunity to absent themselves from daily tasks and concerns, gather, and engage in topics of interest and enjoy performances, lectures, discussions, and readings that enrich our cultural and intellectual lives. The designated weekly hours also seeks to showcase the best of what occurs within our campus community.
