Two hours a week can make a big
difference!
The afterschool program at Billings
Forge is a free weekday program that offers youth in the neighborhood a safe
place to come during after school hours. Most of the 15 students who attend the
program are 3rd to 6th graders at Burns Latino
Studies Academy and live in the Frog Hollow neighborhood.
The program offers snacks,
homework assistance and enrichment classes in art, music, dance and cooking. They are currently seeking volunteers who can assist at least one day a week on
Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and/or Thursdays from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. Volunteers will
help with classroom set-up, activity and behavior monitoring, homework
tutoring, and classroom clean-up.
If you are interested in participating,
please contact Amara Watkin-Anson at amara@billingsforgeworks.org or
call (860) 548-9877 x201.
